Reading Apples
I love using OSX. It is a wonderful Operating system. And compared to any others I’ve used out there it just looks good.
There is one aspect of the system though that is severely lacking. Font smoothing on OSX is terrible. A lot of Mac fanatics would like to say: “I like it like that.” But I suspect it’s for them as it as for me. Burnt toast. You don’t like it like that. You just don’t want to be recognized for the mistake everybody sees right in front of you.
In both windows and Linux I’ve seen much better handling of screen fonts. Clear Type for MS Windows XP is excellent at helping to make letters more legible.
I hope Apple is willing to admit to this and fix the issue. It’s the top issue that’s keeping me from going mostly Mac. If I can’t read with comfort, on my laptop screen , all the other stuff doesn’t matter.
