Buzzing Macbook

May 23, 2007

Magsafe AdapterOn my Macbook core 2 duo (MB Gen 2.) I’ve noticed a loud buzzing somewhere around where the MagSafe Adapter connects to the book. It’s driving me nuts. It’s only while the adapter is plugged in.

Dedicated Volume on ipod

May 23, 2007

Why is it that the ipod’s interface has been so reduced that you cannot access the volume control without being in the songs menu?

The following is from Apples own help page:

How to adjust the sound volume on iPod
If you see the Now Playing screen, which shows the title of the song or audiobook playing, you can use the wheel to adjust the volume.
If you don’t see the Now Playing screen, select Now Playing in the main menu. Then use the wheel to raise or lower the volume.
If nothing is playing, you can’t change the volume.

How’s that for user friendly?

Frankly, I think this is ridiculous. I can’t imagine what went through the designers head thinking that this isn’t a necessary tool. To be able to adjust volume is one of the most important safety issues one of these players can have.

Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP

May 15, 2007

I’ve been using my 2407WFP for a few weeks now on a Macbook Core 2 Duo 1.83 ghz. I have to report that the monitor delivers as promised. The colors are sound. The blacks feel appropriate. I have the brightness at the lowest setting and everything seems fine. There’s and auto tilt feature that should work in MS Windows but does not on OSX. I have to manually change it in OSX. If anybody finds out how to make it automatic I would love it.One thing that is often an issue with a monitor of this size is the stand. The stand on this 2407 is sturdy and adjustments are quick and easy to make. I am making adjustments all day. The only one I feel lacking in is the forward back. There are times when I want the screen up very close to me. In that case I have to pick everything up and move it. Not many stands accommodate for this however. If you’re looking at this monitor I’d say that you’re serving yourself well by taking the plunge.
